Rust protecting bolts using manifold paint/dressing

Not recommending it, just passing this info along. The color is definitely lighter than a black oxide coating, but seems like it would be pretty durable and protective.

Curious what other home processes people use to clean up their bolts back to the factory look?

I use a parkerizing solution from palmetto enterprises. Just blast the parts/hardware, heat up water, pour in the solution, throw the parts in for 8-10 minutes, pull them out and spray them down with WD-40. Parts look like new!

I used Eastwood cast iron manifold paint on my exhaust manifold nuts, including the sleeve nuts, almost 30 yrs and 30k miles ago and it has held up very well.

Put paint on the outside of the nuts and anti-seize on the threads and I was able get the manifolds off after 25 yrs without any problems. Didn't even breaking anything.

Paint got a little scuffed on the corners taking them off/on.
