Almost done rebuilding this 727. Apparently I failed to keep the big servo springs ( front and rear) separated. One appears to be a slightly larger diameter. Pressure difference between them is not that noticeable to my hands. Length very similar too. I am guessing the larger spring goes in the front ( kickdown) servo. Yes? No?

As mentioned the big spring won't fit into the cupped area of the stamped metal retainer for the rear servo...

OK that helps, but another issue is that in my front servo I have two springs, a long skinny spring that goes around the "nail" ( don't know what its called exactly), and then the larger spring. Is there supposed to be two springs in there? This is a truck tranny, if that matters

That is common-two front servo return springs.

Ok thank you, Upon deeper digging I guess the 2 spring setup is common to pre 71 trannies, but what's strange is that all three of my core trannies ,which are all post 71 have this earlier setup in them, John Cope, in one of his videos, says that the 2 spring setup is the best setup so I guess I will go with that

The 2 spring servos made tuning 2-3 overlap a little easier using combination
ns of springs. If you call a face full of ATF easy:lol:
