hello, been out of the game since 2003. just got a 67 coronet w/440 with slight build. so as i dont know much about this motor. it does have a small cam and 40 over pistons with eldobroch intake and carb 650 i think. test drive it never missed a beat. it has a b&m floor ratchet shifter, if pull downed car stalls
this morning started it cold set timing at 12 degrees + at idle drove 25mins. then just droped in 2nd and now completely stalled will not start . i am kinda limited with help and been moving dist. at diff positions and it does spit and pop. checked all wires and under dist. cap looks good but cap feels loose to me . unsure if ceramic resister will cause this but it was cool to the touch.

been so long i forgot what i knew. i am almost certain that it is the timing and i think max advanced setting should be 34-39+ on a440.

Good looking car. Ballast sounds like a good bet. You can try to hotwire it and see how it runs for a test. Just dont run it long like that. Cap should fit snug. But some of the lower priced stuff is questionable.

first thing you do if you by a Chrysler is to buy 2 ballast and put them in the glove box. however i seem to have lost all fire out of coil to dist...... i got new cap and rotor but not put it on yet. i am really thinking it could be stock electronic ignition is there a place that can check them? i know i will find the trouble sooner or later.

What ignition system are you running? When you say stock, that's points not electronic.

Have you tried changing the coil?

stock ignition box and i did buy new coil .....and it is not points as i under stand it 67s use 72-74 year ignitions. thanks

Nope....it was points or dual point distributors in 67...

Is your ignition box Orange by chance?

i understand the 67 came with points but once converted to eletronic ign. you have to use other years parts. ie. 1974 coronet all same stock parts basicly my box is paint lite blue but it has a 5 wire plug that is not square . the dist has magnet pickups i change them on an earlry coronet i had. i have forgot all i knew.
the timing light will not lite at all while turning it over nor do i get fire dist. cap .

Ahh I see now....may be that blue box

Nice ride btw

thanks do you have this blackcharger, ...........my box on car that will not fire

I run two setups in my charger....for local shows etc I have the firecore rtr setup...at judging shows I put the points back in it...

With no performance upgrades etc points is fine....with electronic and the new fuels I was able to better tuning and performance.

I have a bunch of friends that run the msd units and swear by them, I have had no issues with my firecore rtr which maintains a stock like appearance with no cutting of wires...
