She only wanted one nut......

Driving away red squirrels is no small feat!

I once heard that the reds drive the grays out of an area by attacking them and biting their nuts off?

these fox squirrels got tons of 'tude
Don't think I've ever seen one, but yeah, they do look like it would take awhile to cozy up to you, lol.

Dunno, but you don't see many grays around here...
Got tons of them around me, almost hit one today, but I think he made it across the highway unscathed…this time..

You Dr. Dolittle too Cranky ?

I have animals gravitate to me also
cats, dogs, deer, squirrels, even raccoons, birds (both can be aggressive too)
even livestock or horses

I used to have a couple of squirrels that hung out when I had Buddy
(Lord Budnicks)
Elvis is too territorial he barks way too much & scares them...
I had one big male grey squirrel, I called Rocky, he'd hang around
run around on my handrails on the decks
& I could get close 'but not hand feed him', dog biscuits
he'd wait till I set it down & come right up, stick around for a while...
We have an abundance of acorns all over the ground here...

I had a neighbor in Pleasant Hill that would take in orphaned squirrels
when I had my lab 'Duke' he was really calm & gental,
she'd get them both together, should have taken photos, it was cool...
She'd call them & they come back after she released them, sit there
& just watch her talk...

I have had a few deer that at one time I could feed by hand
since they were fawns
some I think their mothers/doe's were ones I had fed with veggies trimmings
when they were lil' & training their fawns to come here
Again Elvis my lab makes way too much noise, really teritorial
makes them really skittish, now

I had one like 5 y/o buck Mule Deer nice rack now
I org. called lil' Buck
when a fawn he looked like he wasn't getting enough food,
almost like his mom/big doe, knew
would bring him to our easement to get treats from me
that would wait for me to come out & give him some fresh Oakleaves
or veggie trimmings & he'd just mosey off

anyway cool shots thanks for sharing

Well, never met a horse that liked me.....everything else is ok.

Even if she only wanted one nut I only knew how to give both!

My wife and I were standing at the edge of Niagara Falls many years ago....and watching the squirrels was fun. One old lady didn't think so as one ran up her leg under her skirt.
I didn't think a woman that size would be able to that fast....but she proved me wrong.

True story.

"Here comes Johnny with his pecker in his hand ,he's a one ball man and he's off to the rodeo!"
When I was at High School, we had a deputy Rector (Headmaster/Principal) who played cricket for New Zealand back in the 50's. Legend has it that he lost one of his plums in a bowling incident.....rather - he was batting and a fast ball caught him unawares.....or in his underwear as it were. Look him up if you wish... Ian Colquhoun. Obituary: Ian Alexander Colquhoun - NZ Herald
Mr Colquhoun was affectionately (if you can call it that) known as 'Coke' ...mainly to the house boys who lived at the on-site hostel where the borders from farming communities lived during term. Coke was the House Master of the hostel....known as College House.

We came back from Christmas holidays one year, and someone has spray-painted in large purple letters.... "COKE IS A MONO-BALL"

Well, it went down like a fart in a space suit.....anyone with any knowledge was expected to fess up.....of course that never happened, and the incident was put down to someone who had finished at the end of the previous year.

Our dogs LOVE to chase squirrels in the yard. I never seem them run as fast as they do when a tree rat runs across the yard.
Pebbles has one up in a tree here.

Coyotes usually get the gray squirrels and bunnies out here. They travel as a pack. I have to run them off
once in a while when they get too close for my comfort to the house.

Yeah, Sasha was like that too - and she was actually able to overtake a squirrel on a dead run.
Problem was....squirrels corner better than dogs. :)
