Hey All

Does anyone happen to know if you have to pull the steering apart to install Hooker headers on a '73 Road runner small block car?

Thanks,

Steve

If you use those generic SB headers you do.

I needed to on a 74 Roadrunner, but using a great big hammer on the headers was easier. :)

Driver side, if the steering box is out of the way, its much easier, as I found out the hard way when I scratched the crap out of my new TTI's. :(

I know mine's a charger, but I intalled summit racing headers on my 318 with little hassle. Just loosen up the driver side motor mount bolt, put a block of wood on a floor jack, and jack up the engine a little bit. This will tilt the engine to the side a little bit making the drivers side header slide right in. I would recommend installing the drivers side before the passenger side. Oh, and the steering linkage bar that crosses below the oil pan might need to be removed for install. Some generic headers actually have the steering linkage bar pass in between the header tubes. That's how my summit ones were.

Summit headers have the steering linkage go threw the tubes, headman has them go under The tube (very close I might add)hookers are exactly like the headman headers all honesty I prefer the summit ones , along less hassle the others you need to modify with a 3lbs er ,or just use org h.p. manifolds there just as good as headers and less problems
