at the end of the year i am pulling my engine back out of the charger to fix a pesky oil leak and give the engine bay a paint etc.

i am seriously thinking about changing to a solid cam and was looking for some suggestions, i am not too interested in part numbers but more interested in specs
i.e 252@.50 for example and what lobe separation etc.

i already have comp cams 1.5 roller rockers will i have to change these or can i use them?
i will be matching springs to cam etc.

engine is a 505 stroker 10.1 compression, a833 4 speed OD, 3:55 rear gears, avg. rpm 2000 - 5000

On my 493 I called Dwayne Porter and had him spec me a cam for my combo. He is very good with heads and cams and knows how to spec a cam that will work with your combo. I usually pick my own cams but I wanted the cam to work good with my eng. And since he is a pro at specing I am sure he is better at it then me. Every car I see with his cam in it run real good. Its a solid flat tappet I use in my 63. If you would decide to call him let me know as I have his phone # here. Ron

With 505 inches and your target RPM range I'd be looking in the 114 deg lobe separation range. Your rockers should be just fine as they are.

what sort of duration would be suitable, i would prefer aggressive side as i dont need vacuum as i am running a hydaboost brake system

Hey Benno, i'm running a Comp Cams solid lifter flat tappet cam in my 512

Spec's:

244/252@50
Advertised duration 282/292
Lift 520/540
Lobe Seperation 110
Basic operating range 2500-6000

Not too crazy of a cam. Decent idle with some thump to it, but still well behaved. Car has 3.91's with a 3800 stall PTC torque converter. Weight, about 3800LB. Dyno 632HP-696TQ. The car still makes a ton of power below 2500, very snappy. I run 1.5 roller rockers as well (W/ eddy heads). No issues thus far. Solid lifter cam car definitely has a different sound, but myself I really like it. I was also looking at a Lunati that was very close in spec's. Only difference was a little less duration, but a little bit more lift. I can dig up the spec's on that as well if you would like. Good luck.

wow nice hp & tq output, hopefully i can get close to that. the hydraulic i have in at the moment is a 252/254 @ .50.
i will look at the lunati also if you dont mind.
