Kinda like drag racing or building a nice car....there's always going to be someone faster or better, right!? I shot for the fun of it too but it was mostly at the range and just among friends out for some enjoyment, indoor and outdoor. Either way, not cheap depending on how much you shoot but comp shooting is way more expensive and especially so if you go to all of the events.Don't worry about "being good enough" Cranky. I shot USPA for years, now shooting IDPA. I have long ago learned that there is ALWAYS going to be a faster/better shooter, but I don't care. I shoot for the fun of it.
As for competitive shooting not being cheap, if you're going to do it regularly, reloading is a MUST.
