A. burnout-stand on the gas go smoking the tires down the street.
B. brake stand...stand on the brake stand on the gas sit there and smoke the tires.
C. do B first roll into A. well that's just fun
I agree with some have said about cars not supposed to be smoking their tires, but I've always seen a difference between using your car on a drag strip and on the street. Yes, on the drag strip, you don't want to ever be smoking the tires, or losing any traction, unless it's for a benefit like heating up the tires.
But, on the street is a different story. For the most part, these cars were never meant to be raced, at least not officially, so if you could get the engine to over-power the tires it was a sign of the brute power of your drivetrain. You could get a little squeak, you could get a mild scream, or you could roast the crap out of the tires while screeching down the road like a banshee. Those who could do the later did the later, while those who could only manage the former waited until a good rain storm soaked the road, or waited until making a turn to floor the pedal, or... used the brake to sit & spin, which is why to this day I see "power braking" or whatever performance-sounding term folks use to make what they are doing sound badass, as a bit of a cheat. But that's just me.
Yeap I agree. I would love to mash it and it launch without much of a spin but in the real world we have to buy tires that can be safely driven in the rain and meet the requirements for being legal. Then there's also a limited amount of space for tires as well so whataya do??
Then there's the ego comments.. lol. I think a lot of us are like me, I rarely light up my tires when asked (always in town or in public anyways) but instead do it away from traffic and crowds.... 90% of mine are witnessed by zero people which is probably why I don't have a ticket yet.
Not that I didn`t do it when I was younger, but now, w/ big h.p., and being a lot older, it seems pretty stupid to do it anywhere but on the dragstrip for traction.
