Hey guys, I already replaced the faulty expansion plug (freeze plug, core plug) while I was at it I replaced the starter too. since the starter has a gear that connects with another inside the engine is there a chance that they aren't aligned or that I did something wrong? I'm asking because putting the new starter was WAY easier than removing the old one so I don't know if I missed a step as the service manual I have isn't super specific with starter replacement.

Not sure what you are asking. The gear on the starter drive engages the teeth on the the torque converter (if auto) or fly wheel (if manual trans). The starter should slide easily on to the mounting stud and fit smoothly into the trans or bellhousing pocket. No idea why the old starter would not come out freely. If the new one went in OK & turns the motor OK, seems like you're good to go.

In most cases, Mopars don't need shims like GM starters do. As far as I know, all starter gears are the same except some of the hemi's.....6cyl to 440 are all the same gear from what I know.

My guess is the old snout was somewhat seized into the bell with corrosion.
