Hello I just put a new fuel tank on 66 belvedere and a new sending unit. Tried to start it and it wouldn't fire ? I put about 2 gallons of gas it is it possible that I didn't put enough gas it It?
Thanks

You could try pouring a small amount in the carb. Then start it. Takes a couple of times to get the gas up through the system.

I tried that about 3 times and it ran till the gas out.

I've heard some say to prime the fuel pump. I've never had to do that yet. Normally a little gas in the carb once or twice does the trick.
You can add more gas to the tank and try that. The pickup tube might be a little high.
You can remove the fuel line at the pump and blow a small amount of air into the tank, with the cap off and you'll hear air,(tube not submerged) or bubbles,(submerged).

Take the hose off at the exit on the pump..crank and see if you are getting gas...first question...electric or mechanical pump

2 gallons will hardly cover the bottom of the tank. Put some gas in it. It is not going to run on air.

Agree - you need to get enough gas in it for the unit to draw it up to the pump. You can always siphon it out if you have different problem and need to drain the tank for some reason.
