Question: I just installed a restored woodgrain wheel in place of the original plain plastic one. Is there any additional trim that covers up the turn signal cam, etc? The plastic wheel had a molded flange, which prevented you from seeing into the column. There is about a 1/4" gap between the wheel & the column 100_2830.JPG 100_2805.JPG (See attached pictures) Thanks for any/all assistance with this!:thankyou: 100_2831.JPG

The woodgrain wheel for 1970 does have a plastic trim piece.

And the screw on cap holder is different for the larger 1970 steering column.

Thanks for the quick response. I have the proper cap & holder. Now, do you by chance have a picture of, or P/N for that trim piece?? Is this going to be something made of unobtanium, LOL??

Complaining about $37 for an unobtainium gap filler (that I'm not sure is OE correct btw), how much did you pay for the restored wheel?

Not really complaining, it just seems so exorbitant for such a small piece of plastic! If the part doesn't fit, I'll be returning it. My wheel was done by steeringweelsbymike.com, $425; a new reproduction was going for anywhere from $499, to $599, and I even looked at an ad for an OEM wheel for $700. I bought my steering wheel about 10 years or so ago, and am just getting around to installing it, LOL!!

A 3 spoke woodgrain steering for 65 to 67 cars NOS$1225. I was out at $600. Seen "restored" ones just scratched up with hacksaw look nothing like woodgrain asking $500+. Photos are screenshots of the NOS wheel. Steering wheel wood grain.PNG steering wheel wood grain 2.PNG

Did you ask the guy who restored your wheel if he would happen to have an extra trim piece?

A definite improvement! I went from the new wheel that you installed, to a woodgrain one, that I bought several years ago, and finally had it restored!

Yes, I checked w/ him, and found out that due to the ignition switch moving from dash to column resulted in a minor change. He has the adapter plate that I need, and ebay has the trim piece.
