I have a Sansui 8080DB that I am starting the process to re-cap and rebuild and update to LED light kit.
It appears replacement parts are available for these speakers. Not sure the Dalquist DQ 12 speakers will survive.
I found this at the goodwill outlet where they sell things by weight, so it was $10 with good batteries in it. I had to hunt thru the bins to find one of the detachable speakers in another bin. I ended up modeling and 3D printing the tweet trim. It all works but one deck sounds a little murky.I bought this 1991 jam box (no one called them boom boxes in my area) two weeks ago at a thrift store.
20 bucks.

Having a little late 80's listening party (and margaritas) with the wife on Friday night.
3rd tape is ...And Justice For All.
Box is 15 WPC, digital tuner, CD, linkable, logic controlled cassette decks, factory bi amped speakers, five band EQ, adjustable XBS loudness.
Separate batteries (AA) for clock and presets, and a remote (that sadly doesn't work but did come with).
Sounds REAL good.
I found out the hard way while working on one of these GF4545s that alcohol will make a plastic gear crack and fall apart right in front of your eyes.100% ...there are two types of Contact Cleaner ...one that will attack and melt plastic, and one that will clean but not harm plastics.
Be careful which one you use and buy.
Wow! You are hooked ...lol.I have 50+ years playing with audio. I didn't realize how bad I had it till a while ago when I added up what I'd spent over that time and realized I could have bought a pretty nice (maybe waterfront) vacation home instead of all.......that.......audio gear. However, I also have 50+ years of sublime listening so I'm not going to complain.
Not too long ago my sweetie suggested I had a problem with audio gear in general and speakers in particular.
* me, snorting out my morning coffee *
That's ridiculous, says I. Count them and get back to me says she. OK, so I had 19 speakers in the house. And to rat myself out another 22 in the shop. And four fully functioning separate systems with enough other gear to create another two or three. Or maybe more. OK, so perhaps she speaks the truth.
Back to the topic at hand. Most all my stuff is from the 70's and still in fine working condition. I do have a few LP's and CD's.

Current main system is a Technics direct drive turntable, Harmon Kardon (about 70W) receiver and CD player, Dahlquist active crossover, M&K powered sub, and a pair of Large Advents.

I have a set of Dahlquist DQ-10's I'm thinking of dragging out for an audition against the Advents. May the best man win.
The shop has its goodies in it also. A robust Denon integrated amp (about 100Wx4), Hitachi tuner, Sony 5-CD changer, another Dahlquist active crossover, and a Hafler amp bridged to mono for my sub.

Speakers are two pair of Advents, one set of Large models and another pair of model 1's. Have you wondered yet if I like Advents?

The sub is an 18" JBL in a custom box about the size of a medium refrigerator. It weighs about 250# and will easily fill the entire shop down to ground zero without breaking a sweat.

May the force be with all those who appreciate what older gear can do. I'd take this kind of stuff over the new offerings any day of the week. Lucky for me, I live on a few acres as do all the neighbors. The neighbors are both tolerant and not out and about at night when I'm in the shop working and jiving to the tunes so no complaints so far.
My friend is harassing me again to come pick up those Klipsch 5.5 speakers.
Sigh, guess I'll be a good friend and go get them.
Where the hell can I put those?
Specs: Frequency Response: 34Hz–20kHz Sensitivity: 98 dB @ 1w/1m Power Handling: 100 watts continuous / 400 watts peak Dimensions: 39.5" H x 12" W x 17.25"
I've got a 90's Sony 120 WPC receiver that should drive them pretty good.
I heard them with a 1974 Pioneer 727 (I happen to have one too) but at 48 WPC, we could only go the 45% volume before running into trouble.

I have a marantz quad 8 track player, but no quad receiver. I saved it from a rummage sale for $5. I have been watching FB for a quad, sometimes the Pioneer version shows up but the ones for fair money end up sold to flippers while I am at work around here. I will eventually stumble into one I am sureHere is a small part of my collection. Marantz 4140 quad amp with SQ decoder and wired remote control. Marantz 150 tuner. Marantz TT 4000 turntable. Teac A-480 cassette recorder. Teac 3340 quad R2R. A couple of SQ quad albums. The Argos speaker is not part of the system

45 watts should be plenty to rock those…maybe the receiver gets distortion at the top end. That Sony will BLAST them!!

A great bunch of knowledgeable guys that can answer any questions about older gear.
I had the same turntable. Mine was cheaper...it was in the dumpster at work, and was still in good condition....and I have a linear tracker-

Sony PS FL-77 MFG 1983.
I got this at a thrift store about 10 years ago for five bucks.
Someone had cut the power and RCA cables.
