straight stick in a bbody console

I want to use a straight stick on my comp plus shifter in my 67 Coronet. It now has no console but I intend to install one and would like to reuse my stick. I'm wondering if any one has done this with success and how they did it.
I'm thinking perhaps a 4" spacer between the shifter and the stick.
Any comments?

I’m doubtful you will get it to work out with a stock console and your non-console shifter. I would look through the Hurst handles that Brewers sells to look at some other options.

I have a 67 GTX with a Hurst Super shifter with a straight handle and had to cut the console to make it work.
