After weeks of waiting patiently, sort of, StuBBle has left the field. I chose his name because aside from that being the first pic I saw, I’m pretty sure the last days as a driver were as a stubble jumper! Pretty great shape over all. Fairly straight. Less than typical rust. But the floor has some indicators, along with one dented frame rail, that it had some fun times! I’m pretty happy with the car, and surprisingly so is the wife!
The fellow I got it from is an excellent fellow. He has some really nice 860hp aluminum hemi cars and a beautiful shop. So a couple beers later, and looking at a bunch of cool stuff, we loaded Stubble up and headed home. I could have spent hours visiting.....I plan on it some day!
Tonight I got him into his new home. The goal is to convert a pretty basic Sebring and clone it into a GTX. I got a parts car with A/C, power windows, floor shift column, the shifter and the mounts for that. We’ll see how far we go. Pondering 440 / 4 speed, but auto would be way easier, and I have all that.

He may have had some race history as there are a few stickers indicating performance.
The license plate on it says 1989 so it has been off the road for a while and potentially only lived on the road for 18 years.

That's a nice start! Fairly clean.
Curious though, did the gentleman ever mention something about a Hemi Lil Red?

A little play time this evening straightening up a couple little spots.
He definitely lost the battle to a couple fence posts. Lightly though. A few minutes with a hammer and 4 spots are looking better!

Thank you. It is an awesome platform. He did not have a lil’ red. A Coronet and a runner were the main couple. They are damn nice. But I did not bring pics out of respect.

A really dumb question, what year is that car? My memory is fading. It sure looks like a real good project.

I guess I should have stated it is a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. It has really only a couple options. It has the fender top signal lights, an AM radio, rear window defrost, full black vinyl roof, B5 exterior, B7 / B5 interior, remote driver side chrome mirror, power disc brakes, power steering and a 383 2bbl. The 383 meant that it got a 727 and 8 3/4 differential. I think the interior may have been an upgrade as well with the rectangle pattern on the door panels but I'm not sure about that one.

Great lookin! Love all these Mopars! Wish I had two of every two door out there. Even a few four doors wouldn't hurt one bit. The fun begins! But I know from experience so does the cursing. But it will be worth it in the end. I'm still sort of in the cursing mode. Only because I'm dragging my arse.
Still have my Wild Rose plates from when I worked out there. God's country for sure. The true Canada!
Your shop Looks great! A few more pics would work for me. Please. Hoist? Single bay??
Looking forward to following your tear down and seeing what you find out about Stubble's past.

Thank you. The '71 Satellite was one of my favorites, behind the '70 Cuda & '65 Ply post. Good luck with the project.

I had a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring from near new - it was a dandy car and I wished I still had it. I shall be following your build with great interest.

Pull the fenders - they like to hide alot of rusty areas.
My 71 came from out west (Humboldt area).
I went thru that process some time ago.

My full build is over on the Road runner nest website,
It'll give you some idea of the rusty areas that an be found on these models.
Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!) - Road Runner Nest

But I have continued the build in a thread in the members section over here.

Have fun!

Something fell on the roof and trunk of Stubble at some point in his life. The trunk lid was damaged beyond worth. But the parts car had a great one. No rust. Just some wrongly drilled holes from a wing. Fits pretty good for an hours worth of body work. The drivers quarter will need to be massaged outward an 1/8 or so, but it’s already better than pushing it all down like they did in the past.
I love making a car whole again!

I pushed the quarter out with the porta-power. I can't believe they didn't do this on the original repair. Instead they mashed the trunk lid and pushed the damage in so they could bondo it. Shadows are deceiving, the deck lid is perfect. It will still need some putty because it has been too repaired in the past. We'll see, I may take the uni-spotter / stud puller to it tomorrow and get those couple of dips. If I was to do a full quarter it would be perfect. I’m ok with a 50 year old car having a smidge of repair work on it.

Looks very nice... Cingrats on the car, and your journey! I hope it is rewarding and enjoyable to go through, and looking forward to seeing the progress! (I'm starting out on a '74 RR - so excited!)

It is neat to see how you are dealing with these body work issues. I will keep watching.
