Super Bee more insurance

Numbers matching isn't as important as it was 15-20 years ago...alot of the younger generation doesn't care about numbers.
I targeted this car because it wasn't numbers matching? (Sale price reflected that.) This way I can update? With no real sin. My car is not close to matching. It really doesn't make sense? Interior totally wrong. It's a D32 code for an automatic? Mine has A833 (18 spline) with a Dana 3.54:1 rear. (It should have been an 8 3/4 with 440.) The VIN/title/fender tag and radiator stamp says same '69 GTX production number. Trunk/engine different stamp. With clear '69 Sport Satellite front fenders.

I only know last 30 years of history. First 20? Original owner passed years ago. From what I can gather? It's parts are from 2 GTX and 1 Satellite. Someone had some incident that warranted changes?

So in my world? No foul making what I want? I have passed on a $20g 540 hemi and a Gen III upgrade opportunity. I am having a real problem pulling a very decent running '68 440 block just for more power and hemi bling? Now if engine was tired? Another story. But for now? Just enjoying.

I'm in the same room, as it were.
1940 PT-105 pickup on a custom built tube
chassis. I have a receipt for every dime
spent on the build, minus labor. There is
a very limited supply for body and body
hardware parts. I've close to 30k invested.
I'm totally up in the air as to what to insure
it for. Headers, chassis frame, steering, rear
axle/4-link, front a-arms are custom built.
I'm open to opinions....

Nada has average value $11.6k. Plus your $30k vested. Min insurance value $41.6k. This doesn't include your time and/or sentiments. I'm afraid that's the hard part?

I would start there?

I don't understand your 'sentiments' mentioned
but I do appreciate your input. I truly don't know
(and I have given this some thought) what this
truck should be insured for. The build is virtually
ground up custom.

Your personal sentiment to that vehicle? If a family heirloom? Then sentimental value goes up.

Sentiment isn't a insurance valuation
consideration. I understand that I can
insure it for any value I place on it.
Not arguing with you here.
I was planning on having an appraiser
look at it once the project is completed.

Lol. I wasn't talking insurance. I'm talking where to start about value? You can insure to any value you wish to pay? It's crazy what people can insure. And to what value? No price too high. No fee too great! Lol.
I think we're on the same page. If my build
were sitting on a lot somewhere, what would
one be willing to pay for it, not knowing it's
build history. I hate insurance companies.
I only want to pay for insurance based on
what they think it's worth. Gotta leave my
feelings behind, though I've poured sweat
and blood into this.

An appraisal is certainly another tool. And can help support a financial decision. But in the end? It's still just one's evaluation, thus opinion. A complete independent appraiser that is not associated with banking finance or insurance adjustment? In my opinion would merit higher confidence. The only appraisers I've ever dealt was for financing. Which I always thought was bias from the start. Funny how their appraisal was very close to my financing request?

This my friend, is exactly my point.

The prices of 68-70 Road Runners and Super Bee's seem to be getting crazy. I have seen 383 drivers from $30k - $50k . Mine is a 383 with the numbers motor in it. Restored in 1994. Still a nice car but a driver. I have it insured for 36k. Thinking maybe I should bump up the insurance.

My apologies for hi-jacking the thread.
You have a beautiful vehicle.
It's just that insurance companies to me
are out for their own interests, not yours.
It's all about the Benjamin's.

The whole industry has a major advantage. Starting with the 1949 McClaren/Ferguson act. This act was to keep insurance companies afloat by excluding them from many anti trust law and legislation. What this means to us? They are aloud to collude with one another so to raise their prices simultaneously. There was some need for this back in the 50s so they didn't get completely devastated by lack of information. But with modern AI analytics and information at everyone's fingertips? How come this and subsequential law is not overturned? Umm I wonder why? Lobbyists and the fact that the insurance companies are so big now? Even the US Government gets out lawyered? I'm certain the FCC is not in any hurry to take on that conglomerate? Look what happened when they attempted to take on the banking industry for the 2008 debacle? One conviction of a low level CountyWide manager. Their patsy.

The old saying "You can't take on city hall?" Try taking on big Corp? Even city hall gets thumped. So what can we do as Joe blow tax payer? Bend over and hope the beating is quick?
