Im not a small block guy but I am sure you can. Maybe a newer 360 with f/i might have different mounting bosses for the p/s, alt, ect. you would have to check that before you spend your money. If your not concerned about it being stock you could install a f/i motor with wiring and computer. There might be some threads about a swap like that here or on other mopar forums. Im sure someone else will chime in with a better answer for you. You could do a search and maybe find what your looking for. good Luck.
The 360 Magnum engine is balanced differently than a LA 360. Look at B&M flex plates to do the swap. Motor mounts should not be an issue. Add an electric fuel pump to keep the F.I.
My 5.9 360 engine runs but need a complete rebuild which is around $2-3K. Bout positive the Trans is Stock 727 but are most Rams up to 2001 Fuel Injected? If I were to swap for F/I, would I need E. Fuel Pump, CPU, B&M Flex Plate? Anything else, dont need a AC. What would this engine be worth?
what do you need out of an engine right now? you can freshen that engine for far less than 3 k. if you have a lot of other work to do on the car a quick ball hone re ring and and a valve job could get you going for quite some time! it would save you cash to fix the rest of the car. around here with parts you could do a quick freshen on that for less than 1 k. pop a little cam in it and you can have fun for a few seasons while getting things together for your car. thats how i have done it before. you can swap engines but you never know what you are getting even if it runs good you don't really know how it was treated. this week we are putting a freshened up 360 in a buddy's challenger i put a bit of cam in it and we will put a small converter behind it with a good 727 out of a truck. he plans on running it for a couple of summers then doing a full teardown and paint at which time we will do a stroker kit on the engine. i guess what i am saying is there are a few ways to go about this.
I would suggest pulling the engine and trans and replace all the gaskets and seals check the bore to see if it can be honed for rings or needs an over bore... the motor you have is the one to have.... just needs to be freshness up find out what you have first get a set of measuring tools and check it everything needs attention.... Before contemplating tens of thousands in a magnum swap.... try a 4 bbl intake and clean the tank off the car so you don't contaminate everything with muck... seems you're in a rush to be 100% perfect... it's about 20,000 to fix you're car more or less... get a book and all the info you can and start some where then systemically work through the systems... and in a few years to a decade you will be done.... 30 years of neglect doesn't go away easily and it all ads up here and there.. a new crate hemi will only run for a minute with a tank full of old gas and sludge once it picks it up
Charger360 is you're best friend on here because he's familiar with all that you will encounter... that way you can focus on all the steps needed to get where you want... you have choices you don't know about and it gets expensive going down the wrong path and having to back up....
