how do i remove the metal vin tag on the drivers door front frame? 67 coronet.

I would not attempt to do that unless you consult you local DMV first. Removal of the tag could be construed as tampering, and could void a title, or make titling/registering it a PITA...

well i am going to put it back after the car is painted.
So did I! But I'm still looking over my shoulder just in case.

Just don't let the drill go all the way to the chuck and make big swirl marks on the tag.

Just having the wrong rivet constitutes tampering. Removing is simple reattaching is the problem. I would take 69Bee's advise and check with your states DMV.

I see, said the blind man. Ok so what do people do with it while blasting the carcass?

I would just mask it off to the enth degree. That way it will not have been tampered with and you have not DMV problems.

I would order the right rivets then just drill them...you can illegally enter this country and the government will force taxpayers to pay your room and board. Average murderer in this country serves seven years. It's your property do what you want with it. Not worth thinking twice about.

Thanks. Good advice from all youens . i live in the back country of Vermont in a log house an my car inspection guy is a MOPAR addict who don't look real closely at too many things. Chuckle.

Ok..so i call the right peoples and they say that i just need to tape over it. The rivets are a special roset style and only the manufacturers have them.
