what is the correct way to end the tailpipe on a 71 charger that was built with "no tips"?
straight out the back or with a little turn down under the bumper?
and to use the big roadrunner style tips the rear valance should have little cutouts right?

Holy Hemi Batman! Ok, so in 71 was it ONLY the Hemi RR's that got the red bullet tips? I remember being at a car lot with my grandpa & looking at two b-bodies (I think RR's or Satellites, but I was knee-high then). Anyway, my sister and I were looking at two nearly identical cars, one blue with single exhaust & one red with those bullet tips. Was I standing next to a 71 Hemi car?

The tips were standard equipment on GTX’s, optional on road runner’s.not available on cars built for California.if your car came with turn downs, no cut outs in valance.
