Temp Sensor wire?

The end on the wire for the temp sensor is suppose to be a stud socket type but must have broke in the past & someone put a generic flat washer type end,well it doesnt work as it looks like it goes up agaisnt rubber on the sensor,question is anything else I can use to make the gauge work? I could go buy another sensor if it turns out to be bad but looks like I need the right end on the wire harness,is it something I have to order,cant find anything on Oreillys website,its a 383 BB in 70 Cuda
