This is the problem that no one on the left is really investigating, the enormous cost of EVs. Not counting tires or whatever wear items the car may have, it cost this guy over $1k/month to own the Tesla, $13k/year. And after just 8 years, it’s worthless.
I have a 2014 Nissan Versa I bought new when I was commuting 87 miles round trip a day. I bought it like you’ll buy a throw-away toaster. It cost me $15k, and it gets 39 mpg on the highway on my commute. At $4/gallon it’s just over $11k in gas to put 110,000 miles on it. I’ve put one new set of tires on it, shocks and struts, and done 3 transmission fluid changes, plus oil changes (Mobile 1) every 5k. Going crazy, it has cost me $30k to own, and it’s still going, not a scratch on it. Only used it to commute, drive my k3500 when I’m around town. I don’t commute anymore, so my daughter gets it when she turns 16.
How will folks working at Taco Bell ever own an EV? By the time they depreciate enough to buy, they won’t have much of a usable battery life left. They’ll be stacking them like cord wood in the ‘hood, lol.
