the daily rant

So I get advertising about 3 times a month about my prearranged appointment to get a hearing aid. I went to their office and told them one more time and they would be HEARING from my attorney for harassment, it stopped.

Some companies send return envelopes with their advertising. I rip the paperwork in pieces and mail it back to them, that stopped that after a few times.

Once a month my wife gets these free dinner invites at a nice restaurant to listen to a guy telling her how to invest for retirement.......... really. They stopped also......... please try to atleast know your intended audience.

I get continuous texts asking if I want to sell various properties I own that are not for sale. Do these people actually believe we are too stupid to market and sell our own properties through normal channels when we decide to sell? I have sold dozens of properties through the years, many by owner, and don't appreciate these vultures wasting my valuable time, or considering me a moron novice. I used to just block them but now I send a variety of rude and profane responses before blocking them. I'd give you some examples, but this is not the blue forum.

@Hey-O I get those retirement dinner seminar flyers too. Not even a free meal would get me to go to one of those. That is so yesterday!

Don't get them from Miracle Ear! I got them 2 1/2 years ago & I must have had at least 20 replacements in that time. I got a new pair about a month & a half ago after the others crapped out & so far they're OK (fingers crossed) However, when these ones start to crap out I'm going elsewhere, but where to get the next set is the 64 dollar question.

I absolutely HATE giving out my Email address. I usually tell people I don't have one. But I bought a LCP a couple months ago, and now I get text message adds from them about twice a week. Who knows how many emails I have avoided.
Still, yesterday's add included a sale price on something I've wanted, so I might stop in.

So my 13 year old laptop just won't cut it any more, so finally broke down and bought a new laptop.

<RANT ON>
Rant Part 1: I'm so freaking tired of constantly being barraged by advertisements. :cursin: During the setup of this new PC, they try to get you to purchase cloud storage, Microsoft 365, additional insurance, malware software, etc. But what really gets me is it is almost impossible to say no. The windows come up during setup and if you damn near sneeze you are automatically signed up. If you don't want it, it takes careful looking to say no, I don't want it. Then afterwards pop up advertisements come up for these things after I have said no. GO AWAY!

Rant Part 2: I bought a PC that was supposedly bundled with lifetime Microsoft Office 2021. Well, it arrives with no software key. Now I have to communicate on-line to try and get this resolved. :BangHead: Through that they did send me a key that does not work (looks like someone already used it). So I am still working to get this solved, but have no one to actually speak to so I can fix the issue. Really frustrating - just f-ing give me what I paid for... :mad:
<RANT OFF>

The actual laptop does work well and seems really nice though :thumbsup:

Here's what I have been using for quite some time now. It works very well. Joey doesn't like it at all; however, there isn't really much he can do to prevent someone from using it. Well worth the download and usage as it does block a lot of those popups...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Glad I don't have that hearing issue myself, RC. I also get these unsolicited ads and emails for hearing aids every day, it seems. I respond sometimes as "I DO NOT NEED OR REQUIRE THEM"!!! And I get back, yes, you do, as every senior is either hard of hearing or FOOKING deaf!!! Not me,
despite being exposed to hazardous noise levels during my service career. I just made sure to protect my hearing at all times. Maybe that is why I don't require them??? cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Miracle Ear is a joke. Go to a real audiologist or 2 and see what's available. New technology for hearing aids is incredible. I use Widex, and can say the first pair were crap, but after 2 years were replaced under warranty. The "new" pair actually function as intended and are great. For us technology wizards,(yeah right) the Bluetooth functions that actually work is amazing.
However.......they are $4k
You don't know how really bad your hearing is until you turn them off.
