The first computer generation.

Haha I appreciate that. One thing I have noticed is that EVERY generation loses skills that the generation before them relied on. How many of us know how to prime a steam engine? Or saddle break a horse? Or rig a sailboat? Who here knows how to build a water wheel that actually works? Or preserve meat without refrigeration? Can/jar excess produce? I guarantee that generations before us considered these skills as essential to survival however these days those skills are obsolete. Yet I don’t hear the arguments from the elders on why their generation didn’t have to learn those skills.
Good examples. I don't know from steam engines. but I can do the rest. I'm praying that I never need to because of bad political decisions that can get us wiped out.

One thing I have noticed is Americans are probably the most self analytical and self critical society on the planet. We analyze everything to death and always think we’ve could have done a better job at whatever we’re analyzing. To a degree there is good to that - but I think we’ve taken it beyond necessary thresholds. Some will disagree with me because they’ll say this leads to self improvement. And they would be right, again to a degree. We’re so competitive in everything that it almost seems as though nothing is good enough. I think we could benefit by stopping to smell the roses once in awhile and learn to enjoy what we have and enjoy our differences. Each generation contributes valuable elements to our society - respect, enjoy and learn to live with what those things are. If,we did more of that we’d be much less divided.

I have to agree wholeheartedly. I've been to little league games and HS football games; my kids were in some sports as I was. G-damn the parents go nuts...really crazy pressing their kids to win! Yelling like idiots to their kids to kill their competition! Years ago I thought this was pathetic ranting on their preadolescents and then we evolve to give all the kids some prize win or lose so nobody's feelings are hurt. More pathetic. If ya lose ya get back up and try to do better next time and support your offspring to understand this concept...not berate them to some emotional damage for losing!
