Hopefully the Eagles will drop their 'poop' on someone else......in a land far away.

when we lived near the city we were close to an afb. it was awesome when they stationed fighters there . they have since moved and so have we . that same base gets the blue angles or thunderbirds and has a air show yearly . when in town it thunder ! love it !!!

There was the old El Toro Marine Air Base in Tustin, CA, right down the street from my house.
It was shut down in 1999.
My house was right under the flight path, and everyday I couldn't wait to get home,
open a beer, and watch the air show.
Absolutely awesome.
We went to the base every year for the annual Blue Angels show.
They would practice over my house and all around the neighborhood and that was frickin' beautiful noise !!!

I've lived fairly close to Ellington AFB on one side or the other since 63. It's no longer an AFB but the Coasties are still there. Ellington still has all the NASA guys flying in and out and the air show every year. Last year I got to see my first B-52 fly over at a low level. Dang cool bird! I did get a bit tired of seeing all the F4's though....actually got my fill of them when I was stationed in Germany in the early 70's.

I was working in Tulsa. On slow days Id sit in my truck on north side of airport. Not sure what was going on but one a watched 2 fighters escort a small Leer type jet right down to the runway. One on each wing tip. The jet landed the fighters peeled off after touchdown. Very cool.
Another time we were changing poles east of Wichita, there was fighters practicing dog fighting above us. Flares and everything. When they we’re finished they buzzed the tower so to speak tipped the wings as they went by the bucket truck. Makes you want to scream AMERICA!

During my tour of duty in Germany back in 74-76, working the F-4 Phantoms, the F-15 was just coming into the Air Force inventory.
All us Phantom guys thought thought that aircraft was **** hot, as the F-4 was around for a long time.
Then around the later 1970's the Air Force wanted to send me to Okinawa, for another long tour of duty, when they started to send the first squadron of the F-15 to that island.
I got out of the Air Force, so never worked on them.

That’s great. Had some F35’s this past weekend coming out of Mesa Gateway which isn’t common anymore.

Very cool, Rick.
We get fighters practicing dog fights over our house pretty regularly, but they're too high to identify. In fact, you often can't see them until they fire flares. They stay high enough to get away with a sonic boom from time to time.

I was stationed on a S .A. C. base , nothing like trying to sleep with b 52`s running at 98% on the flight line at night , vibrations and noise was unbelievable ...
used to watch the parts fall off of them setting on a return road from the alert pad , during an O R I inspection , take off every 45 seconds , one behind the other ...was impressive !!

My hometown had a Naval air station in it and my parents house was about a half mile south of the base. The squadrons based there in my lifetime were reserve squadrons, and my the time I was around 10 they'd moved the A4 squadron out, leaving just anti sub, cargo and helicopter units at the base.
But there were transient jets coming and going on a regular basis, and during the Chicago Air Show weekend the military planes making appearances there like the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds would operate out of there.
The village was fairly affluent and most residents hated the base and the noise from the jets but I loved it! The jet noise would freak out our dog sometimes too. The sound of a F14 or F15 in afterburner would give me goosebumps though! I stubbed many a toe and banged my knees many times when I'd be home and hear the sound of a jet approaching for the "break" when landing, or taking off towards our neighborhood and would be running to the door to try to get outside in time to see the plane fly over. Eventually I got the idea to start trying to photograph some of the action and became an avid aviation photographer during the last 6 or 7 years the base was open before sadly it was closed in 1995.
Here are a few examples of what I saw from the backyard of my parent's house or from vantage points a short drive to the north end of the base.

I feel the same way when I see the fighter jets and helicopters fllying out or into Moffet Field near my work in Mt View (SF Bay Area), Califiornia. It's always cool when you hear the roar, then look up and realize the speed is so fast they're way past where you're looking.

Several years ago you may also recall they retired the Space Shuttle. Moffet field is one of the Space Shuttle bases where a lot of people worked on that program. I had heard that they were going to fly the space shuttle by on top of the carrier plane past different military bases in tribute of the program and those who worked on it. Early reports said that they planned to fly I think around 1000-ft altitude. Later it was reported they lowered it and flew just above 100-ft or so (don't quote me on that, but it was much lower than originally planned). I was working a 40 minute drive away from my old job near Moffet at the time, but I was listening to the live radio broadcast that was giving updates on the flight location. Pretty soon I jumped in my car and drove towards my old job parking lot where I knew I'd get a good fly by view. I had great timing! As soon as I took the offramp, I saw the Space Shuttle fly from directly in front of me at a 45 degree angle from a 1/4 mile away. I quickly pulled over and jumped out of the car and it flew right over my head. I couldn't help but be overcome with emotion and gave a big thumbs up and salute. That was one time where I definitely felt proud to be an American and to think of what motivated intelligent people can achieve when they work together and put their minds to it. I'm glad I made the effort to watch the fly by and was rewarded with an amazing experience.

OP, your opening share sounds like a takeoff, so any idea why the landing gear appears to still be deployed?
Most videos I have seen. 50'? above the runway its retracted.

When they're coming down for a landing, you can hear them feathering the throttle back 'n forth on those jet engines so they get it just right. It's an un-mistakeable sound you can hear before you can even see them coming!!! Right about the time they're just over our warehouse, you can sometimes hear the air brakes and thrust reversers going off just before they touch down on the runway. That'll wake your eardrums right up!!!!

The landing gear usually comes down just as they're coming over the freeway before they're on top of the warehouse. Our warehouse is about 500 yards dead nut straight north of the main runway, so on some days we really do get the full airshow.
