The Mopar I never wanted...

Sorry for your loss, but welcome aboard from Ohio.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend

welcome to the Darkside/MoPar, it's not so bad, it's not a Ford or GM etc.

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

Welcome aboard! At least it's American & it was free! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Welcome to the finer side of life. But condolences for your loss to get there

I lost a very good friend a few years back and told his son who inherited his Dads 1971 GTX , That IF he ever gets in a jam and decides the GTX needs to go away ( he has grown up around the car all his life so there is no way it goes away by choice)

Call me, I'll come get it no questions asked

TY for the sentiments but no way, no how will I ever forget my Fords and Audis. There's a long list of reasons I'm firmly in those two camps. ;)

The Coronet has exactly one reason I wanted it. Last spring when I suspected my friend may not have much longer I went on a crusade to make it run and drive up to it's potential. The payoff was one surreal Thursday evening at Kil-Kare in Xenia Ohio. 6 total vehicles at the track. Joe hot lapped it that night. Run after run with the only break between passes was a quick visual under the hood while grabbed a drink of cold water. The car ran 14 passes that night, every one between 12.72 and 12.68, then drove the 22 miles home. Never turned the key off until it was back in the driveway. Joe wasn't talkative guy but he didnt shut up for a week. For a month all our conversations revolved around what needed to be changed to get it under 12.5.

I miss my friend.....
My condolences to the loss of your close friend. I race at KK ocaisionally too with my Fox race car. We are very close geographically and I'd like to meet you and see the car sometime. I, too, have a coronet 500, and it's red. I can't usually race at KK because the shut down is too short, last time I was there I went a 9.5 with the chute out at the 1k ft mark and barely got it stopped. Have made a lot of improvements in the brakes since then. I am also a Ford guy, but was into Mopars before I got into Fords. Just recently got back into the mopar fever. PM if you'd like to meet up.
