Just picked up this old Willys
I actually did a service on this truck back when I was a kid working at a gas station
I always wanted one ever since but couldn’t find anything but basket cases, this one is still all original except for the seats, has the super hurricane 6 and a power take off winch, I think it even had these tires on it then
I have to rebuild the fuel pump but it runs smooth and quiet

We had a 53 Willys, 4x4, PTO (drill acc.s) & winch,
truly a lil' cab, barely fit 3 kids, old 33" (?) military tires, like 5.38:1 gears :blah:
not really road-worthy & if you did, maybe 50-55 mph max...
that;
someone prior to the guy we got it from a local,
used for doing/drilling holes for fence posts
he put a 300hp 327 4bbl SBC 4 speed/granny low truck trans in it
used as a "farm/ranch truck" when I was a kid, I was 13-14
when dad sold it, in the summer 1973 when he got a new CJ5, 304cid 3 speed
so he could drive on the road & on the ranch, dual purposes
we weren't allowed to drive dad's new Jeep CJ
(it wasn't the same, I like the Willys truck way better, we could use it)
on/for dad's property in Garden Valley 144 acres, it was called 'the goat'
because of the climbing prowess, it was uncanny,
really steep hill going down to the lower meadow & then back up to the barn
we lived on top of the hill too

I had a lot of fun in that truck, quite the 4x4 too

I once ran one of those Willy's sixes on grain alcohol, just to see if it would...and it did!

Just awesome, love the PTO winch on the front too , 41 is the only year with the round grill , another thing I like about them, I too have a coupe , a 37 Desoto that I put a 56 desoto hemi with a 833 4 speed behind, I also let a 34 Plymouth 2 door sedan get away from me, was storing at a friend’s and he sold it , I’m just a car junky with 5 projects to get caught up on

only five projects ? i've been running on more like thirty , lol . i'm just a sick junkie for sure , lol . yes i've had friends sell on me as well . but if i had not let some go i'd be even deeper in them than i am .

oh ya my 36 coupe has a 56 330 desoto mounted , no trans . but i've got a rack of a833's . but that 330 is stuck , but just waiting in the wings are a coupe more chrysler's . there is a 55 301 poly woth 55 300 hemi heads and a 54 331 hemi with twin fours . and if so i've got plenty of a 727 autos hanging out .

I’ve been selling some to help finance the ones I have left but I just can’t let any more go, now if the wife will let me work on them more, I’ve been working on her emergency jobs that just couldn’t wait
It’s time for my cars now
I hope
Good luck on getting some of yours done
