There has to be a clearer way to delete private messages

If the system was so well designed, then why are there so many posts and or questions from members asking how to delete messages?

Again, I don’t have any issues deleting, but I agree with many others that the process is not intuitive.
Don't see anyone saying it's well designed.....at least making it simple to delete messages isn't all that well designed.

Because there are too many "Quick-draw McGraw's" here on site - fast to complain and criticise, but slow to check the FAQ list to see if it can be done.

I should do that on FABO. I have 133 pages. :BangHead:
Amateur..... I've deleted that many.

Still have over 68 pages running with two threads alone having over 53,000 replies between them.

The fact that someone would need to review a FAQ list in order to know how to delete a message, says it all.

It is far easier to delete messages here than it is to delete a Facebook, Linked-In or eBay account.

and deleting messages here only takes a minute.

I can’t speak for Facebook, as I’m not a user. But for eBay you just swipe to the left to delete a message. At least on an iPad, not sure on a PC.

I've been in software 25 yrs, it's really annoying when admins blame users when the software is stupid.
This forum software has some nice features, but maintaining the inbox is not one of them.
I don't think anyone here wrote the software, why such defensiveness?

I think everyone already knows it's shitty, but " it is what it is" , and , with a half a small effort, everyone can use it in short order.

In my 60s mechanical mind, it's probably a huge BFD to re engineer it.

In my software mind it's "how the heck did any engineer or product manager think that was acceptable?".
It's obviously a function of the software that the product manager doesn't really care about.

My youngest reworks software for a living. She's not a programmer but I would call her a re-programmer. It would probably take more than just a patch to make the software do or not do whatever the op would like.
Talking with her, one of the reasons there are steps involved is so you won't just push a button and delete the whole thing.
I don't like the way the HVAC controls work in my wife's Buick but I sure wouldn't expect them to re-engineer the system for my wishes.

Just go through the necessary steps to clean out your inbox as designed and call it good. I just timed myself and in 18 seconds, I was able to remove a message.
