I have both. One pinky steering on this one.

And Stretch Armstrong steering on this one. I keep at least 40psi in the front tires for those tight parking manuevers.

Yes manuals are good. Two granddaughters know sticks really well. Oldest one would like to get a new stick car,Toyota makes one. Either one could drive the 383 or the 440. Other granddaughter could get used to it quite easily. Grandson doesn’t appear to be that interested. But life is good, both he and his sister are very good in the quarter. Both have had a few perfect lights.

Thanks!! I saw 3 out of 4 are manual and thought of 4 gear. I apologize. Our 440 has manual steering, but I have a if needed complete power steering system and column.

My routine for them is to head down to fill up with fresh gas and go for a drive around the country section, about a 10 mile square of county blacktops. The last car to go was our 1968 GTX, a factory manual steering car, as I was rolling down the road I thought to myself there really is nothing quite like a old manual steering car, what a great old fashion real feel of the road! Here she is basking in the sunlight before getting parked for the winter.

I think that's what Popeye said; it's good for the forearms.

driving 50's and 60's cars in high school us old guys here have spent many years driving manual steering cars. My 60 dodge and desoto were manual steering cars,,younger people never drove cars with 7:35x14 nylon tires. stiff sidewall tires on a 5 inch rim were designed to be easy to steer. not 15x7's with 235/60's
My charger has 14x6 with 215/70 BFG radials, and I have no problems driving it. They do remind me of 1969 though, which Is why we drive them, right?
back then the less weight the better, and we were all dumb kids trying to kill ourselves racing on the street!
now the 68 383 Dart takes a bit more effort.

My youngest pulled out of my driveway yesterday. My 12yr old grandson riding shotgun. The grandson's first car pic was in the Bee. Yesterday was a (gulp) Ferd conv. Swear to god the left frt tire was 2" off the road. Don't tell anyone, but he can't shift for crap; takes off good though!(think he's afraid of breaking the Tremac!)

Went the other way with mine. PS/PB. Love it. Just got sick of parking lots and turning the wheel like a 60’s tv show on mostly-straight roads. Also got sick of wondering if I would stop on the 20% grade at the end of my street where it hits the state highway.

Luxury rides, sure - it's expected to have all the power accessories and boosted controls.
Modern stuff? Yep, they have the latest technology on operating controls (they better, since
most younger folks are gonna operate them like video games anyways).

But muscle cars? Whole 'nother critter...they were obnoxious, loud, crude and a handful by
their very nature (biggest motor in cheapest/lightest mid-size body, as defined by the very man who
coined the phrase, Brock Yates).
Fred the GTX is manual everything. When you drive him, you get out of the car feeling like you've
just had a workout - because you have - and that is as it should be.
Wouldn't have him any other way.

My 1st GTX had manual steering. This one has power. I do like manual a little better. Both manual brakes. But the first had drums all around. This one has disc's up front. There is a difference. With even a noticeable increase in confidence.

I would take power brakes before power steering. If given a choice.

I took the P/S off my 63 and made it manual. Since I race it sometimes I prefer manual and it works so easy on the street. Ron

Makes sense really - the tractor is expected to do intricate, multiple turns in short distances as
a regular course of operation.

Crap - now I’m done for. My craftsman lawn mower has power steering. That pretty much trashes my comments. But 3 of 4 of my old car are manual, only my GTX is PS. My 66 Satellite has 235 size radials on it and it’s really stiff. The other two are lighter weight and manual steering is pretty ideal in them. But there is something pretty nice about a big engined muscle car with full power and auto for cruising around town like my GTX - sort of the old Banker’s hot rod sort of thing. Good to have both (and the PS mower).
