Not having very good luck trying to install trunk letters with 1/8 th inch thread cutting nuts does anyone make a good nut or have any ideas about how to thread the chrome studs on repop letters.

Why not use 3M double sided trim tape? It won't come off and will seal the holes.

Another alternative is a blob of urethane sealant on the pin on the back of the panel. Put the emblem or letter in place then put the blob on from the back so you don't smear any on the front of the panel. Use masking tape to hold the letter in place overnight while the urethane cures.

Thanks for input going to try to find some better nuts than what came with the letters if that doesn;t work try the tape or sealant.

Just be careful with the Pal nuts and make sure that your straight onto the stud. If the nut is a bit too tight, from the back side, tap the cutting edges slightly to open up the diameter slightly to get the nuts to start. Some of these emblems are so "soft", that it does not take much to break off the studs.

Got some better PAL NUTS TODAY [Hillman brand} went right on no problem the ones with the letters were junk.
