Tips and tricks for a '73 RR dash removal

Detroit Muscle Technologies has the shoddy pad insulation that goes under the cowl. They also have the firewall insulation, and the rubber plugs that hold it in place.

Thanks for the info you guys. Im going to place an order from DMT today because my heater box is in all sorts of disarray. Plus the heater core cracked and died about 15 years ago and we never fixed it so might as well do that too and get it fully functional.

I ended up just doing the dynamat type material on the firewall to make it easy. I already had the new fiberglass insulation to go around the heater box so thats up too.

We found our first serious amount of rust on the car when doing this. Where the firewall meets the inner wall of the fender, a decent amount of the lower half of the seam is rusted out. We purchased a jug of that stop rust paint and ended up painting the entire firewall to prevent future issues with it spreading. We also plugged the hole after the paint dried with silicone to prevent future water issues. The seam needs professional help though. Hopefully in the next 5 years ill have the car in the shop for a full tear down restoration.

The harness from yearone works awesome btw! Everything worked the first time we turned the power on. I even have a high beam indicator light that works and everything! Haha
