TKX 70 Charger

Was able to put in some more time in the garage today. Driveshaft is in. I went with a new tailshaft seal the original seal was a little damaged. Filled the trans (Included a picture of the funnel setup). I also went with a new steering wheel and horn setup, might stain the wheel a little darker not sure. Messed around with the brake switch and as kern Dog has already stated - the switch is a bitch to get to work with the new tandem clutch/brake pedal setup. After wasting, I do know an hour?, on the setup I remembered that the Wilwood master cylinder I have has a pressure switch to activate the brake lights. Got lucky there. Still trying to figure out a clutch safety switch. I have a Honda motorcycle brake switch that I think will work. Gonna mess with that tomorrow. Solid time in garage today (before my daughter and then my brother came over needing oil changes) 4 hours. Total running time 40 hours.

Tomorrow I am going to let the car down and fire it up! Test drive to follow. Hours today 5. Total running - 45 hours for the Tremec 5 speed conversion in a 1970 Charger 500 SE.

Spent a couple hours today wiring up the center console, dome light, and the power windows. The reverse lights and the clutch safety switch are installed. Tomorrow I am going to let the car down and fire it up! Test drive to follow. Hours today 5. Total running - 45 hours for the Tremec 5 speed conversion in a 1970 Charger 500 SE.

I used a door limit switch for a bus from work. Its a momentary on/off. It was at the bottom of the pedal so once the pedal was pushed all the way down the switch was closed. I have since eliminated the switch as you really had to push the pedal all the way to the floor. Became too glitchy for me. Right now I have a switch that is hidden that grounds the solenoid. Works as both a safety switch (if you remember to turn it off) and a anti- theft switch.
I have a Honda motorcycle brake switch that I am eventually going to attach to the clutch pedal but as of now I am the only one that drives the car so not high on the priority list.

Sorry for the lack of posting as I have been really busy. The conversion was completed the beginning of April. All said and done the man hours was 45. I have to say that if I was to do another one the time would be around 30 hours and if done by a shop that has experience with the b body conversion an appropriate time would be 20 -25 hours total.
Attended the first car show this year with the 5 speed TKX. As others have said - why did I wait so long? I absolutely love it. Only thing I would say is be careful if the roads are just a little wet. I went sideways through the first four gears and I am in the take it easy break-in period!

I'm curious about your clutch safety switch. How and where is it installed.

I did something different.... No clutch switch, instead I used the neutral switch (on the tailshaft housing) on the trans, grounded one side & connected the other side to the starter relay... works perfectly...

Been a while since I have been able to post. Last week removed the break in fluid and added the synthetic fluid ( As already stated Tremec, should work on a better position for the fill what a PIA).

I have had a vibration after 55 - 60 mph.

I have just added a 2 deg shim to raise the pinion angle, based upon using Tremecs driveline operating angle app.. What a difference a few degrees make. Car now drives smooth at any speed, well haven't taken over 85 mph yet. Really smooth on hard acceleration. May think about raising the pinion another 1/2 or full degree (based on the smoothness of the heavy acceleration because the movement of the pinion angle up). Just a little bit of pistol grip shake above 60 mph.

Car show in Chesapeake City MD tomorrow. Must get a "Sorry car not for sale" placard as I am asked every time I come to stop.
