Torque converter question

First, how do I know if a converter I've had on the shelf for 30 years, is any good? I know it came from a 440 GTX. It has fluid in it still, and has always had a cap over the converter snout while stored.

Second, I can't tell the manufacturer of the converter, and have no way to gauge what the specs/stall speed are. Ideas?

I'll post a pic of it later today, if that helps ID this beast.
 
I’m not sure that there is a way to tell short of putting it on some specialized test rig to spin it up and gage the output. But I would think if it was OK when it was removed then it should still be. There aren’t really any perishable parts in it I can think of.
 
Take a screwdriver and check one way clutch.
Dial Indicate the snout for run out and ballooning.
Inspect snout for unusual wear.
 
Pics. I'm thinking this came off a '73 440 GTX back in the early '90s. Has the counterweights.

Looks like the weights were added on later.
But yes, 440 weights
