Torsion Bars

Or you can make your own garage mechanic version of one . . .
Here's what I did to make a "tool" that worked great and didn't score the torsion bars . . .
Cut notches into a 2x4 so that it's a snug fit for the torsion bar . . . if it touches the bottom, even better - 3 points of contact
Clamp the 2 - 2z4 with a large C-clamp on the torsion bar, and hit the 2x4's with the hammer as shown - don't hit the torsion bars
The boards may not look too good when you're done, but the torsion bars will be ( hopefully ) unmarked . . .
