trans 727 caps

Hi guys, I have a 727 trans and I noticed a kind of plug on the back just above the oil pan, could you tell me what it is?

Pressure tap for the low/reverse servo. There are 4 taps total. 3 in the case, 1 in the tail housing.

Or it he could be looking at the rear band pivot axle?

Oh thank you do you happen to know how to replace it because when I cleaned the transmission I noticed that the cap was hidden by black paste because it was probably leaking

Is there a little piece of the extension housing that hangs over the "cap"?

I think we are talking about two different items. If it had rtv you are probably talking about the rear band anchor pin. It has a o-ring. Leaks are common. If the pin is pressed all the way in (lightly tap on it with a punch) and has been well cleaned. Then a small dab of rtv will seal it without disasembly. If its already apart replace the o ring. Later transmissions have double o rings on the shaft.
