Dumb question. A833 and 727 tail shaft bushing and rear seal are the same? My 66 parts book shows a trunnion flange on 4 speed. Was at trans shop $90 labor to change bushing and seal. My parts so just making sure.

Sounds pretty steep to me. Can't be but ten minutes work !!
Not in Ct, garage rates $85 an hour. Dealers I think pushing $100. This in car they pull driveshaft, bushing and put in back together.

I guess that's a fair price. You didn't mention it was still in the car !!

Do you have a 727? The bushing and seal is an easy replacement. In my experience the bushing does not wear much at all.

66 Satellite is an 727 auto. My 65 is a 4 speed. Had a Dana 60 in Satellite and used a 68 GTX drive shaft, it was a little short. Think it beat up the bushing.

The 727 has a pretty long tail bushing. It seems to me it would be pretty tough to pull with a puller with the tail housing in place. I used a bushing splitter (not the real purpose it's designed for but works well) on mine to cut it and then pushed the new one in with my press. Maybe I'm over estimating how difficult it would be to use a puller that goes in around the tail shaft to catch the bushing.

This is a picture of what they look like. Love those special tools. A place called Freedom Racing sells them $72 for the tool used not sure if it's the right one. When I saw that and only $90 to have trans shop do it, 1 hour labor.

Yes, that's it. Have they replaced it yet? I'll be curious if it will pull that long bushing. Maybe I'm mistaken but I think it's about twice the length of a Muncie transmission tail housing bushing.

I'll probably do it in June. Saw tool on another thread. For $90 someone else can do it. Don't know the exact price of correct tool for a Tf but seen new tools close to $200.
Sorry to hear you still have converter drain back problem. Its doesn't seem like one of those problems that you'll go after until solved.
