Over the years I have repaired a few tubes that are cracked in the O-ring groove. Usually a quick braze or silver solder. Of course when my own tube needs a repair it's totally FUBAR!
So I tried a new approach and it is superior!
I cut off the tube just above the groove and welded in a piece of 5/8" tubing, this allows the use of the later model TF tube sleeve which is a superior seal to the O-ring.
See attachment.
