What is the best gasket to use on a 727 with a deep aluminum pan I have leaks that won't stop dripping I now have right stuff black on the pan ? Thanks.

Or the shift shaft?

I recently have two successful pan installs that don’t leak. One was a Mopar reusable gasket, later model trans part on an old 727. Then I just did a Fram filter kit. No sealer is the key.

Mopar 727 transmission pan gasket 2464324ac and it is reusable to.

I use the rubberized cork pan gasket that comes as standard in the rubber and paper kits Transtar sells. No complaints. No sealer ever.

Can you get it relatively clean while underneath and get an idea where the leak may be originating? Usually 3 places as mentioned. Gasket, dip tube, or shaft seal.

Mine still leaks, being more observant then my early get it back together quickly approach. I noticed that someone down the line used a scotch brite wheel to clean the old gasket material off. They got overly aggressive and removed to much material. I may be able to rtv it on successfully, but i haven't messed with it, just something to check out as this was common place for shops to use hand grinder with scotch brite wheels on them.

Might be my problem also thanks

i had a nice pretty aftermarket pan with a drain plug, after 4 attempts with different gaskets even using the high dollar mopar gasket with the double rubber seal rings. I put the old beat up stock pan back on with that mopar gasket , first try, no leaks.

Or the often overlooked rear band pivot shaft.
