Trick Flow 295 Heads

I am curious to see what peoples on track results are when they start buying these heads. TF makes good stuff. Little hard to believe these dyno numbers with only a 295cc intake port size. But time will tell!

Seems like a small exhaust valve? Isn’t the common upgrade for oem heads and some aftermarket stuff to 1.81? Does that not matter if they used the real estate to improve the port?

The exhaust port on a trick flow takes a quick turn compared to other bb heads. They get the exhaust out very efficiently. I was questioning it until we put them on a flow bench.

I would trade a larger intake valve for a smaller or oem sized exhaust valve every day. I think intake valve size is more important to make hp than exhaust valve size.

All the big heads are MW port window. ( except B1 I guess). These appear to be a CNC version of the 270 with bigger intake valves

In their post touting the new 295’s, someone asked if the 270s could be taken out to the 295 port size. The answer from TrickFlow was No, it’s a completely new casting. They also said they are recommending currently available HS rocker gear. But they didn’t verify which set. One can only assume they take offset rockers.

The other big news was the new R-series intakes. Which are 4500 flange MW / 270 port size, and they ARE offering a B-series version. Finally, an option to the Indy 400-2.

Thank you. That makes it interesting.

As far as exh valve size, they started at 1.60, went straight to 1.88, and have been dialing it back for 60 years. Testing doesn't lie.
