trunk lid won't stay open

1967 charger, springs will not hold trunk lid open. I tried all 3 tension locations for lever of torsion bar. springs are not broke. I can't get the spring to go another 1/2 turn tighter on shaft. any ideas?

Metal hinges are over rated

I'm not familiar with that particular hinge, but it sure sounds like your springs are weak. Get a new set of springs and/or entire hinges?
