U.S. — What had been a joyous holiday threatened to be thrown into panic, as urgent reports began trickling in that, despite her repeated statements to the contrary over the last month, your wife actually did want something for Christmas.

While friends and family members were able to corroborate earlier reports that your wife had said on more than one occasion that you didn't need to get her anything, late-breaking news on Christmas Day confirmed that you were absolutely supposed to get her something.

"You didn't actually believe you didn't need to get her anything, did you?" asked one source close to your wife. "If so, that was a really big mistake. When she said, ‘Honey, I don't really want anything for Christmas,' what she was trying to tell you was that there was something very, very specific that she wanted for Christmas, and you were supposed to know what it was, and you should have gotten it. We all thought you were aware of this."

Though she was unavailable for comment, your wife was reportedly shocked that you did not pick up on the fact that she wanted something for Christmas when she told you she didn't want anything for Christmas. "She couldn't have been clearer," another insider said under the condition of anonymity. "The repeated statements that she didn't want you to spend any money on her should have driven home the fact that she wanted you to spend money on her."

At publishing time, sources warned that your wife's upcoming assurance that she didn't expect you to do anything special for Valentine's Day was confirmation that you were expected to do something special for Valentine's Day.

My wife and I pretty much have what we want. We tell each other not to buy each other stuff and save it for when were on vacation for an extra. I usually buy her something anyways for putting up with me, but this year I didn't, so I'll report back in the weeks and months to come.

RCs wife is safely chained to the radiator and has been given her food allowance for the week! What more can a wife possibly want for Christmas?

I stole my wife's television from her workout room a few months ago when my television stopped working in my mancave,so I bought her a new one for Christmas!

A new Apple Watch. First mention I grabbed her hand and said deal. Went to the store with her before she could change her mind.

The wife and I have a very good understanding.
I tell her I don't want anything from anybody. And I mean it. When somoene insists or some name exchange comes up, I tell them snacks/food that I like.
My wife tells me the same thing, but she also understands if there is somthing she wants we will go pick it out together and call it Christmas. Many times that thing she wants is something to host family Christmas at our house or some other item similar she could use before actual Christmas day.

This has both avoided disappointments and saved us a boatload of money over the last 25 years. My personal opinion on Christmas is that the main reason for it is right in the name, and the gathering of family and friends comes next. Material things are some place way off down the list, although we do participate in that as well mostly for the young children in the extended family.

My wife and I decided that we would rather go out for a nice Christmas dinner instead of exchanging gifts with each other. After years of her returning most everything I got her. I usually still get her a gift card from a local nursery so she can get things for her garden in the spring. This year I replaced her stolen television.
