Hello everyone,

I have been a member since I bought my B body a few years back and like to have a look at the projects going on.
About a year ago now I had to change the distributor on my LA360 equipped Cordoba due to the bearings going and giving some very funky running.
Since getting a new distributor I don't believe I have the right ignition timing. Being in the UK there aren't a lot people or mechanics that know about these engines, distributors, carbs etc.

I have looked on the internet and this forum etc, even a book with a great deal of information about American car models.... except for my car model... I haven't really found any definitive information on the standard LA360 ignition timing. There is usually a sticker in the engine bay but only half of it remains, so I currently nothing to go on.

Would somebody be able to provide me with the factory:
base/initial timing
maximum mechanical advance @ rpm.
vacuum advance

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Go here, and download a FREE copy of a manual for your car:

If they do not have your exact year, just get close, as the engine info is not likely to change that much to matter. If I can find info to machine and build a '60 Rolls Royce/Bentley S2, '61 Austin Healey 948, and '03 & '84 Land Rovers, you should be able to find what you need on line for your Mopar. A lot of good info is found on the "MyMopar" website, and you will find more out there the more you search.

Good luck!

I would suggest put a timing tape on the balancer.
Unplug the vacuum advance and run it with a timing light.
As long as your TDC mark on the balancer is accurate you can create your own map or graph of RPM vs Timing advance.
Usually 34-36 degrees total with pure mechanical advance, vacuum advance will add more.
Run as much advance as possible without predetonation.

Cordoba in the UK! That's cool! What side is the steering wheel on?

Do they have car shows around your area? Its a good source of info and they can refer you to where they get their cars fixed or tuned.

Thanks 69Bee, really useful link there!

slepr1 - Its on the wrong side bud ;)
Its not as cool as a Córdoba to Córdoba though, a bit of a road trip but it can be done although not at the moment with this timing issue and my lack of Spanish...
thanks to 69Bee for pointing me in the right direction for the manuals (really useful link there!) although a few sections regarding timing say "Refer to emission control information label on vehicle" which I only have half of.. slepr1 are you able to post a picture of your label? your cars only a year younger.
