So, I had an item I bought from Amazon, When it arrived it was obviously not gonna work, so I started a return online, needed to drop it off at Kohls....Today I was driving right past Kohls so I thought I would at least look at the possibility of dropping it off, if the line was long I'd do it later.. As it turned out only one person was in line.... She had a shopping basket which I assumed was because she was dropping of a return while shopping... Wrong.... She was returning 47 items.... Christmas lights, wreaths, ornaments... Decorations.... All of it used, all of it out of the packaging... Lights wadded up.... Basically returning everything that had decorated her house for Christmas..... Seriously? I feel kinda bad returning anything once it's been opened....

Talking with the check out girl she said it happens a lot.... This was a pretty extreme case but apparently it was the third woman today returning Christmas decorations...

Items returned "open" especially when they look like they were used should NOT be returnable in my opinion.

Work in retail long enough and you see plenty. This was happening in the 80's when I was a salesperson.
Buy a special tool for a job, take it home use it and return it because it "Didn't work right"

Hey lets rent out the tools, Right! Guy abused the crap out of a tool, broke it, got "injured" and sued us for renting him a defective tool.

Solution, no more rentals and tools that were taken out of the packaging/used were not returnable.

Returns of women's clothing happens a lot. They buy a dress & other clothing for a special occasion, wear it once, and then return it the next day.

Similar but different situation .... the same as people who return stuff after using it - this is why my buddy refuses to give out electrical advice to people who obviously are looking for free advice to DIY the job..... and they are never heard from again.

That's just nucken' futs, rude, wrong in so many ways...
I try & avoid most any retail/stores for a few weeks after Christmas...

I drove by the shopping center nearest us, it was packed
it was still packed today, when I had to go to CVS for my dad...
Long story
:blah:

I just don't like the people in there, so rude & many are seemingly scammers
trying to get something over on the stores...
Not the same more cheerful crowds as before the big day...

Happy New Year soon
big 250 Baby...

I had to hit the evil empire(Walmart)once, the parts shop didn't have oil I wanted or filter. Luckily I opened the filter box, was kinda slick, it was used. Unbelievable. Took it to the counter after I found a new one. They said its common. How do you not see oil dripping out or inspect before putting it on the shelf. I hate today's society sometimes.

I am a machine shop and obviously buy engine parts from a supplier that ONLY sells to shops and brick & mortar stores. In the past, I have gotten old cam bearings in the new box, I got a pontiac TC set in a Dodge Flathead 6cyl box (AND they don't even look the same), and I believe a returned main bearing set with babbitt damaged because they just put the bearings back into the box. Another time I bought 16 valve guides and got 15 guides and 1 lifter (obviously someone never watched Sesame Street before). I asked the rep whether or not anyone actually looked in the box on new returns. Their comment was that they were supposed to. On my defective returns, I would sharpie the bar code so they could not just scan it back in and/or wrap in with painters tape and write "Defective" on it!!

Research has shown that when you have generous return policies people spend more money. What is unfortunate is the landfills fill up with unsellable crap that is returned. I read recently that 70% of the above ground pools COSTCO sells gets returned at the end of summer, and they all end up in a landfill. COSTCO makes so much profit on the 30% of pools that do not get returned they continue to sell that product.

So, COSTCO has the pool returns built in as a 'overhead' on their operating profit.

It's a economy built on waste.

This is what happens when we all play with Monopoly money.

I hope you guys are investing in metals!

When Amazon first showed up, a guy needed a faucet cartridge. He had no idea, at all, what he needed. He bought and returned 42 cartridge. Amazon canceled his account. He begged to come back! They live among us and they end up costing all of us more money. I could NEVER do that.

There is a segment of society that have figured out the methods of scamming in so many different ways. It is basically their "way of life". Whether it's governmental, businesses, they have their plan to manipulate it.
