I have a 1969 Satellite/pseudo Road Runner mongrel of a car that I am building. It has a factory front disc, rear drum setup. Standard calipers.

I am looking to see what is around for caliper/brake upgrades for the front but it seems like all I can find info on is drum-to-disc conversions. The factory setup is... fine, it works, but I wanted to see about giving it a little bit more stopping power while still fitting behind the stock wheels. It's going to be putting down a fair bit of power so I need it to stop nicely.

I'm not above piecing together some sort of custom deal but I wanted to see what everyone has done. I am trying to keep it relatively close to factory, at least visually, while improving where I can.

EDIT: Car originally had power disc (option 22 on my build sheet), booster was removed prior to my ownership. I do not remember WHICH calipers it had (they're buried in a box somewhere in my garage), but if I recall correctly, they were single piston

There was no factory manual disc on a 69 B-body.

Can you photo your calipers?

Either it's added on disc, or he booster was removed.

Factory wheels? 14" or 15"?

Email Dr Diff your questions, he'll know what will work. (I believe he doesn't answer his phone anymore. )
He has kits up to 13"cobra brakes.
If you are trying to keep 14" wheels, upgrades will be very limited, 15" wheels allow much more room.

So I took a look at the build sheet, or what is left of it, it did indeed have power disc at one point (the sheet has a "22" in the Front Brake section). When the car came into my possession, there was no booster, so someone deleted that at some point. Makes sense.

Calipers are in a box buried in my pile, so I don't have that handy. And I for the life of me can't remember what they looked like when I stripped the car down to the shell. I am like 90% certain they were single piston but I could be wrong.

The car came with Magnum 500s, which if I recall, are 14s. They're in my rafters, so I'll check later.

I did wilwood 4 piston calipers and drilled slotted rotors for 14 inch wheels on my 74. I didn’t need to change the master cylinder and booster, but did anyway for appearances. My car was originally factory front disc. So really it’s nothing more than changing the calipers and rotors. There was nothing wrong with my factory set up. It worked just fine. I just wanted powder coated calipers and SS rotors for appearances/rust.
