Vent push/pull handle cable--is there a quick fix?

My 72 SSP project car has two cables under the middle dash that operate outside air vents for driver and passenger. One of the cables has slipped out of the pull handle end and now it hangs up. Do we repair these somehow/someway or is it time to look for another? Thank you.

I've fixed broken mounts but it's usually only temporary, best thing is to just replace it. In a pinch you may be able to drill a small hole threw the handle and cable and drive a roll pin threw them?
