After a lot of delays, like moving across the state, I am trying to get my reassembly of my 69 Charger back on track, but have run into a roadblock.

My original vent window assemblies were badly pitted, and I elected to just buy a set of aftermarket ones from Classic Industries. Looks like I made a poor choice. I tried the passenger side first, and it just does not want to go into the door and connect to the mounting points at all. I am not sure if they can be modified to fit like the originals or not. I did a search and found new aftermarket chrome pieces only from Tonys Parts/Vans Parts, and was wondering if any others had purchased them and had success in installing them. Please let me know.

Alternatively, does any one know of a shop that will take the originals, disaasemble them and rebuild them after rechroming the metal?

Regards,
Mike

I’m sure all the A/F suppliers buy from the same scource. I’d return and post a WTB for some clean originals if it were me

Mike I would think they would have to work. Yes originals are the way to go. Did you compare the repops to your originals? Please post a pic if they are really that different from the originals.

Thanks Guys,

I just needed to tweak the new ones a bit, and they are now installed. Any market for the old original ones with obvious pitting?

Mike

Yes, someone will want rechromed original parts vs overseas reproductions. Post them for sale.

What did you need to tweak? Do they look good? I'll have to rechrome or buy new for money in the next couple of months.
