Purchased Mopar performance part P4120758 which is a 5 blade cooling fan with viscous drive for my '72 SSP small block (currently 318) project car. There is not enough clearance for it to fit. Have power steering and no A/C. Where do I go from here, different pulleys with different offsets or something? Thank you.

Hard to tell what exactly the problem is without seeing what you are working with, however, the one thing I know is that some small blocks with standard fan had an adaptor that is about 3 inches then the fan. Using the viscous fan, that adaptor isn't needed and it bolts directly to the water pump drive.

Here is what it looks like on my 340.

Can you post a pic? How much is it off by? What Idrive said about a spacer on small blocks is correct.

I'm trying to recall what issue I had on a big block in a 73 Challenger. I think I had to have the fan mount pressed deeper on the water pump shaft, and then use a different pulley. This was due to a mix of AC and Non-AC parts.

I also had another issue on a 64 Dodge, where the radiator had been shopped sometime in the past, and the tank brackets were actually soldered WAY out, so that's a possibility, too.

And lastly, there is the slim profile Jaguar clutch if you have no other options.

You guys are right, removing the 2 3/16 inch spacer should allow enough room for the fan and viscous drive.
