Water Pump/ Fan Pulley Install - 383 HP

Ok, another stupid question. 70 Charger 383 HP Auto. Is there any kind of a spacer under he pulley? I can hear the pulley scraping on the pump bolts. I measured the pump bolt heads and they seem about .020 wider (not thicker) than my OEM bolts. I've cleaned up the OEM ones and just coated them with black oxide, so if there's no spacer, I'll try replacing the bolts tonight after work.

Yes, I know the bolts should be painted with the engine, but I kind of like the contrast of black on orange.

Check pulley for trueness. My 70 no issues

Is the water pump new? Compare or find the measurements of the hub surface to the mount surface. I would make sure all the pulley grooves line up. Lots of people end up with a miss match of parts.

Spacer shims can be had if the hub is pressed on too far over the shaft or you've got a "Friday" pulley.

is this the original pulley or one you acquired for the build? I know that some some used pulleys that I've tried are deeper than others and not intended to fit depth wise. There are no spacers needed. If you get the correct pulley it shouldn't be a problem and you should have clearance.

I have seen those used on some cars for very precise belt alignment between pulleys if needed, but normally the spacer is not needed only to clear bolts is it? On the other hand, on my car, I did install a shorter head bolt near one of the belts up top for a bit added clearance to prevent belt rub.

is this the original pulley or one you acquired for the build? I know that some some used pulleys that I've tried are deeper than others and not intended to fit depth wise. There are no spacers needed. If you get the correct pulley it shouldn't be a problem and you should have clearance.

It's the original pulley. It doesn't seem warped or out of round - it barely rubs but evenly when I spin it around. I'll swap in the original bolts tonight and see if that helps.

Yes to all of the above. I had to toss hex head bolts on my Hemi.
