welcome waygun

It looks like it has a "strato vent". Kind of like a/c vents but only two in the middle (none on the far left or right). I've seen them, and heard they are somewhat rare, marketed as an alternative to a/c.

Is that the case, and if so how do they work?

You have to admit, Mopars did have the most *** kickin fresh air vents, even the regular ones would blow your skirt up (literally).

The "strato vent" is an afterthought,IMO. Code H41
Basically there is a vacuum operated switch mounted on the controls and when the vent is selected forced air from the blower is redirected to the vents so you can have hot or cold air rush through them.
Works great to get air to the back of this beast to clear the rear window, and unlike the cowl vents, still have some sort of air flowing when stopped in traffic.

Welcome, Waygun. Fun story. My first thought when I saw the pics was the Brady Bunch. I didn't realize it was so close to their actual car - LOL. It's nice to see the respect you have for the car as it is.

cool car almost looks identical to the one acually used on the brady bunch tv show.

Thanks.
Everybody is telling me to do a 4 speed conversion.
But I will not bother.
Not many 70's cars out there that did come with the 3 on the tree--let alone wagons which 99% came with automatics.
What is even more funnier is how many people that do not know how to operate it!!
I had one mechanic when I asked if he knew how to drive a standard column shift.."Oh yeah..no problem. My Civic is standard..."
After his response,I knew he did not get what I was saying.
After stalling the car several times being in third not first,he asked me to show him the shifting pattern,LOL!!
Unlike floor shift cars, there is no pattern on the knob,LOL!!

There is an entire generation out there that never seen or driven a column shift car--that is what makes this car so cool to the kids today, and that's why I will not convert it .

Like a rolling museum!
It was a rolling museum--literally the other day.
The original 2 - 73 date coded wires and cap took a dump.
The wires were shorting out and misfiring in the wet and the cap had a chunk missing and carbon tracks inside between terminals..
It is cool to know how original this car is but some things had to be replaced.

Did some digging and found that the M26 code is for the tailgate moldings.
They are unique to this car and are 1973 model only moldings.
Speaking of which.... I found a NOS molding to replace the dented lower one.

Be carefull buying NOS trim pieces.
Not all is perfect.
My molding had packing tape wrapped around it and the years of sitting and shuffling around the tape turned yellow and was stuck hard onto the surface.

What to do?
Using the tailgate as a bench (I love it!)
I sprayed the molding with a penetrating lube and let it sit.
it loosened up the tape and dried glue so I did not have to use a sharp edge in fear if scratching the surface.
After a good polish and buff with a soft cloth,it came up like new...or should I say NOS,LOL!!
