This came out of my 74 Charger. Chrysler part #2852905. When I google that # it says 8 1/4, 68-70 B body, spring perch to perch 44.0 inches, flange to flange 55.6 inches. But then other searches have different years, platforms and measurments. Then this cover does not look like anything I have seen. My measurments are, from center of spring perch to center of spring perch is 47 inches, inside flange to inside is 54 3/4 inches, and outside flange to outside is 56 1/2 inches. The ratio tag is 2.71

2852905 is the casting number for the center section, it can't be used to ID the assembly.... There was a part number or code on that axle when new, it may or may not still exist... The 47" spring C2C tends to show it's the original axle from your charger.... Got a broadcast sheet?

I could not find any numbers anywhere. Is it common not to have a fill hole in the cover? All the photos I've seen has a hole.

Yep, 8 1/4 rear end. If you had a 440 or a 400 4bbl then you got the 8 3/4. If you had a 318, 360 or 400 2bbl you got an 8 1/4.

Nothing on this car is numbers matching. Went to look up parts and thats when all these differentses came about. And then no hole in the cover plate made me to wonder what I had.

Late 8 1/4 had a different cover, like the one in the OP.

Page from 1974 parts book. The note contains the housing casting number.

Hey 69bee, I just came in from the shop where I was reading that very page! But thanks anyway. Who knows if I would have ever found it.
