What do you see in this block ?

Removed my oil pan because I have a pretty bad leak. Seems like there’s a crack on the pan for it to leak that bad but I can’t find any cracks and it is oil but maybe it just is a bad gasket
Anyway while I have the pan off here’s what’s inside.
Anything you see ?
I did notice the cam is purple why s that ?

Well it was either scraping those crank counter weights or they balanced the rotating assembly and took off some weight. Not real sure. Any indication that it was hitting the block anywhere? Also replace the rear main while you have it down that far.

Nothing on the pan that indicates scraping or any noises heard

car runs great, psi at 45-50 once warmed up

Probably from balancing.

You got a good old classic Mopar purple shaft in there.

If your talking about the circle in the bottom of the sump where the pickup has contacted it don’t mess with it that’s where it should be right on the bottom of the pan.

Those scratches on the baffle look like the dipstick was missing the hole. Definitely a silent chain, like mine came with. I would change it. Mine was pretty streched. Did you find any nylon pieces in the pan?

No no pieces of anything

what’s the silent chain ?
I was actually worried I’d find something because it was just too easy

everything in this car has been pretty easy
No broken bolts, no stripped threads, nothing and so far so good. I’m always waiting for something to happen lol

Looks like the timing chain has the nylon gear and the chain looks stretched.
