I learned to read with books like Hop on Pop, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Go Dog Go.
Then, no surprise, Mad magazine at about seven years old.

Run Baby Run by Nicky Cruz
I still remember a line from that book! "Pressing a .32 caliber revolver in my hand, he said you're a Mau Mau, Nicky, a Mau Mau!"
I think this was in the library at Camden County Christian School circa 1972.

I think my fave was The Mouse and the Motorcycle.

Noddy - by Enid Blyton, was the first series of books I remember reading.
